Day Six
Thursday morning saw us travel to Alpe Lusia in Bellamonte for another exciting day on the slopes. Students were once again punctual for breakfast and departure, although the effects of a busy few days of skiing and yesterday’s rock climbing were beginning to show—tired legs and sleepy eyes! Despite this, spirits remained high and everyone was ready to make the most of the day.
The journey itself was something special, taking us through the breathtaking scenery of the Dolomites. The natural landscapes were truly stunning and provided a memorable start to the day. Weather conditions were on our side too, with sunshine and slightly warmer temperatures making for excellent skiing conditions throughout the morning.
All groups continued to push themselves and build on their progress:
Group 1 headed straight onto red and even black runs, as well as making another visit to the snow park to take on jumps with confidence.
Groups 2 and 3 tackled red runs throughout the day, continuing to develop their technique and confidence, allowing them to cover more and more of the mountain.
Groups 4 and 5 began the day on long blue runs through the trees before progressing onto red runs for the first time this week—a fantastic milestone and a real testament to their hard work.
A highlight of the morning was a mid-morning stop at Le Cuna, sitting at 2,272 metres above sea level. The views from this point were the best we’ve seen all trip, showcasing the dramatic rocky peaks of the Dolomites—an unforgettable sight.
Lunch was slightly later today at 12:15pm, where students once again enjoyed favourites such as pizza or spaghetti bolognese. With wide, quiet slopes and excellent snow conditions, the afternoon provided some of the best skiing experiences of the week so far.
During the afternoon, students were assessed and graded by their instructors, recognising the incredible progress made throughout the trip. Following skiing, a presentation took place to share both their ski grades and the much-anticipated slalom race results—an exciting moment for everyone involved.
To round off the day, we visited the local town of Cavalese, where students had the opportunity to pick up refreshments, buy souvenirs, and begin preparing for the journey home.
This evening will be spent packing and getting organised ahead of our final day of skiing, before beginning our journey home straight afterwards. A well-earned meal at the hotel and an early night are definitely on the cards as everyone recovers from an action-packed few days.
Another memorable day on an incredible trip!
